Faceted Halloween Boxes

I did 21 of these boxes to give at work. The box looks far harder than it is.  I got the idea from Dawn. Here is her video but I didn't do the lid. I just diecut the scalloped circle in the center of the top piece.

Wooden Nativity Blocks

This is another Super Saturday project. They were done with 2.5 inch pieces of 2 X 4. It's a set of 14 blocks. I loved using the non-traditional colors rather than Christmas colors.  The images were just printed and glued on.

I haven't been able to find the site I got the images from but if I find it, I will add the link here.

Super Saturday Sign

Perhaps it is a bit odd to post a picture of the poster for the activity, but I worked hard on it. The flowers were stamped using Stampin Up ink and stamps.  Luckily it's a pretty big stamp. The letters were cut with my Silhouette.

Fry Boxs

Another class I am offering for Super Saturday is these fry boxes. They will be free to the people who are taking this class. I will just be bringing lots of supplies and they will come up with their own designs. The fry box die is by Stampin Up.

3rd Card for class

I have used this die several times before. It is by Tim Holtz and Sizzix. It is just so simple to make a great looking card with this die.

Modern Tree Card

In the hopes of coming up with simple cards for the card class for Super Saturday, this is the second card. The tree and star are cut with the Silhouette.  I felt it needed more so I hole punch was used to create ornaments.

Manager Christmas Card

Part of the reason I stopped posting every day was because I am now over the activities for the woman at my church.  I am responsible for a "Super Saturday" activity in Nov so I had to make some things very fast.  This is one of the cards we will be doing for the card class part of this activity.  I am offering 3 cards free of charge however, I am asking for a donation of a small item to give to the Veteran's Home. The items I am requesting can all be picked up at the dollar store.

So here is the first of the simple cards they will be doing. The stamp is one I got at I Brake For Stamps.  I must have liked it because I have two. That will be perfect for a class though! I checked the website for the stamp and did n't see it but there is a digital version available if  you are interested. http://ibrakeforstamps.com/mangerdigitalimage.aspx

Birthday's that Soar

I picked up this fabulous hot air balloon paper at Craft Outlet. It was 25 sheet package for $1.  I diecut the two large balloons with the Stampin Up die set called Lift Me Up.  The card is another very large card ( 5.5 X 8.5) for work.

Birthday cards

I will not be posting daily. I have taken on some additional responsibilities at church and can not continue to do this daily and keep up. I will continue to post far more than I did before I started this challenge and hope you will continue to come visit.

Here are a couple large birthday cards I did for work. I did them in pairs this time so there are now 4 done for next year out of the 40 or so that I need to do.

The card above loses something in the photo. It is clear plastic paper with balloons over a blue glitter paper. I don't think you see the blue at all here. The words are cut with the Silhouette.

This second are is cone with Stampin Up stamps and dies, as well as some vert pretty paper.

This the board I made for work. It is all cut from my Silhouette.

Day 185 - Wolf Mask

My son's department has the theme of woodland animals so he asked me if I could make a wolf mask.  I did this with a cut file on Silhouette. It is 3 Dimensional. I had to enlarge it as I think it was designed for a child. I couldn't find a grey I liked for the base so I got this heavy grey metallic for the base and it turned out fabulous. I have to cut it twice to get through the material but it made a great strong base for the mask.

Day 184 Birthday Wishes

Here is the last large birthday card for 2017 for work.  It was suppose to be a masculine card but it is kind of gender neutral. The grey balloons are metallic silver.  I cut the words with my Silhouette and  the balloons were punched out with a Stampin Up punch . I drew the lines on the balloons and the highlight spot.

Day 181 - Simply beautiful

I I needed some quick cards and did 8 of these. The butterfly is a Stampin Up die and the paper is copper metallic. I don't remember who made the paper. It was in a pack.

Rarely do I make multiples of cards

Day 179 Have a Jolly time

While I was playing with my Silhouette, I cut a could of these out too.  Mine did cut great so there was a fair about of fussing over it to get all the little piece out.

Day 178 Penguin Love

This is for the same class I have been posting for the last two days except this one is for the girls to keep. I thought teenage girls would like the non-traditional colors. The penguin is an adorable new stamp at Unity Stamps.  I colored the penguin with Copics.

Day 176 - Christmas Pick Up

I was asked to teach a class on card making to some teenage girls at church. They are going to make cards with me as part of the cards I am doing for the Veteran's Home.  This is one of the cards I designed for them to do. The background is a Stampin Up embossing folder. The truck was cut on the Silhouette.

I cut out 14 of them in a variety of colors .

Day 173 - Autumn Birthdays

This is a large card I did. It is a Unity stamp.  Below is a closeup of the image.

I did the background with a piece of photo paper. It was the summary sheet from a couple pictures I had printed at Walgreen's.  I just cut off the end of the sheet that was printed with tiny thumb names of my last prints. I used the colors below of alcohol inks to color it.  Since I knew I wanted to stamp it, I tried to have more of the yellow.  The leaves are punched out of the same paper.

Below is a test I did after with a couple papers. The outside papers are glossy photo paper. The middle one with a "soft gloss"

When using alcohol inks, I sometimes use alcohol to blend or get effects with the ink.

You can see here the middle one which was the "soft gloss" did not move the way the other inks did. It also became soaked with the alcohol and inks rather than them floting on top.

In all three cases, the final papers turned out pretty cool, although I like the glossy papers best.

Good in the World - a short rant

First. I apologize now to Laurel who I believe is really the only person who comes to my daily blog. I need to say some things and this is the place I have chosen to talk. Skip this one my friend, I will be back to art and crafting in a moment.

I am deeply saddened about the events at the concert in Las Vegas last weekend. It made me doubt the goodness in the world. It made me feel like evil is winning and I grieve for my grandchildren growing up in this world but wait... I WILL NOT LET THESE EVENT TAKE AWAY MY HOPE. There is good. And LOTS of it.

Even that moment when one man was spraying evil at the people attending the concert, many, many people were shielding each other, helping people get to safety, helping the wounded.  There is far more good than bad in the world. Just count at this event.

Everyday, people are helping each other..in big ways and small ways. Volunteering, donating, and just caring for our neighbors. Sending a card to someone. Sharing a kind word. Even a smile by a by-passer can make a difference and be a kindness.

We can make laws and changes to try and protect people however, the real power is for us not to give up and continue to try to be the good in the world.  Spread it like a virus.

Below is one of my favorite past pieces. I actually don't know what has happened to it in the move.  Each hand says "I can be the good in the world" and I named it, Me Too.  I hope - if anyone reads this - that they will hold up their hand and say," Me too - I can be the good in the world"

I am sending a big hug to the world and commit to do more to be the good in the world myself.  Let's help Good win!

Day 172 The birthday cards continue

More of those really big cards. This is a Unity stamp. It was done with paper piecing and copic markers. The pattern papers are from Stampin Up.  They are discontinued.

Have a Creative Day!

Day 171 Quilling at Art Prize.

I  was thinking about what I would share from Art Prize. Art Prize is a massive art contest that takes place in Grand Rapids each year. It includes over 170 venues this year and more than 1300 pieces of art.  The big winner gets something like $150,000 and it is voted for by the public.

I went last week and had a nice time. Weather was hot but I was excited to see some of the work.  Since mostly my work here is paper, I am posting some pictures of "When Your Head is Swimming" by Kimberly Wolz. http://www.artprize.org/64803  It was quilled.

Day 170 Dale Chihuly art

This is a chandelier in Meijer Gardens I saw again this week. It is an incredible piece of art. It is all blown glass. I went to art prize this last week and I will share some pieces from that. I am working on some long term pieces and may bore my visitors a bit but hope to keep on posting daily.

Day 168 World Beauties -the rest of world beauties

I just couldn't post them for 8 days straight. Here they are in some group pictures.  They are a little thick for US mailing without paying extra.
