Whales With My Daughter

I have been playing catch up on my blog. This posting is from July when my daughter visited.  She and I did whales together. These are still using Let's Make Art lessons.  The last picture is my first whale framed. I just did that this week in order to enter it into a art contest at work.

This is my talented daughter Sarah.  Wish we lived closer and could be together more.

Here is a closeup of her whale.

My whale turned out lighter and I actually like my first whale better.

And this is my first whale framed for a competition at work.  I have no expectation to win. I just like for people to see my art.  I love how the frame and mat colors work with this painting.

Watercolor Sunflower Card

As I am learning to watercolor with Let's Make Art, I have made a few cards.  In this case, I gave up on the design she was trying to teach me. I actually threw out the paintings.

Then I did this. The painting was a totally different composition but I did learn techniques from Sarah at Let's Make Art.

Here are the two I threw out. They don't look so bad from a distance.  I was doing them on half sheets of watercolor paper in hopes that I could use them for cards for work.

Here are a couple close ups and in progress photos.

Embossed Roses Card

You can't tell in this picture but this is a BIG card.  It is 8.5 by 5.5 inches.  Half a sheet of card stock folded in half.  This simple card would be impossible with normal size embossing folders however I got a large one made for my Cut'n Boss machine.  All bargains from the the Craft Outlet store.

I made this big card for work where we need big cards for 40 or so people to sign them.

Beached Whale

I painted this whale in June while at the cottages. My family has cottages on Lake Michigan that have been in my family over a 100 years.  I painted it late in the day and the light was poor.  When I got up in the morning, I went down to the beach and took this picture.

I love it on the beach like this.

Baby Card from class

I had a post about the baby card class I taught and there was one more card I never posted.  This is it!
The tag is separate from the card.

The heart die is from AliExpress.
I also used some circle punches and tag punches from Stampin Up.
The paper and stickers are all bargain items from the Craft Outlet store.
