Whales With My Daughter

I have been playing catch up on my blog. This posting is from July when my daughter visited.  She and I did whales together. These are still using Let's Make Art lessons.  The last picture is my first whale framed. I just did that this week in order to enter it into a art contest at work.

This is my talented daughter Sarah.  Wish we lived closer and could be together more.

Here is a closeup of her whale.

My whale turned out lighter and I actually like my first whale better.

And this is my first whale framed for a competition at work.  I have no expectation to win. I just like for people to see my art.  I love how the frame and mat colors work with this painting.

Watercolor Sunflower Card

As I am learning to watercolor with Let's Make Art, I have made a few cards.  In this case, I gave up on the design she was trying to teach me. I actually threw out the paintings.

Then I did this. The painting was a totally different composition but I did learn techniques from Sarah at Let's Make Art.

Here are the two I threw out. They don't look so bad from a distance.  I was doing them on half sheets of watercolor paper in hopes that I could use them for cards for work.

Here are a couple close ups and in progress photos.

Embossed Roses Card

You can't tell in this picture but this is a BIG card.  It is 8.5 by 5.5 inches.  Half a sheet of card stock folded in half.  This simple card would be impossible with normal size embossing folders however I got a large one made for my Cut'n Boss machine.  All bargains from the the Craft Outlet store.

I made this big card for work where we need big cards for 40 or so people to sign them.

Beached Whale

I painted this whale in June while at the cottages. My family has cottages on Lake Michigan that have been in my family over a 100 years.  I painted it late in the day and the light was poor.  When I got up in the morning, I went down to the beach and took this picture.

I love it on the beach like this.

Baby Card from class

I had a post about the baby card class I taught and there was one more card I never posted.  This is it!
The tag is separate from the card.

The heart die is from AliExpress.
I also used some circle punches and tag punches from Stampin Up.
The paper and stickers are all bargain items from the Craft Outlet store.

More watercolor

I have been doing lots of watercolor.  This post contains many of the pieces I have done recently. All of these have been works done with tutorials by Sarah Cray at www.letsmakeart.com or inspired by her classes. I will post more of what I have done soon.  Check out Sarah's videos.

Tonight I did these Koi fish.  I will have to try again. I did one of them with the tutorial from Let's make Art and one with the live show.

Maybe the third time will be the charm.

Treat holder

I did these simple treat holders at the recent card class I taught.  It is made over a Merci chocolate.  I learned it from the Paper Pixie.  The link is below

Scalloped Tag Treat Holder

Watercolor Feathers

I have kind of fallen in love with making these feathers. I see a lot more in my future. They are fun to use to practice techniques.  I learned to do them from Let's Make Art.  Here is a like to the video.

Here is my first one

And there were two

I did them on a couple of pages. I was practicing more than trying to make a single piece

After doing the poppies, I had so much red out, I did a red one.

Resist cards continue

I have made a lot of these resist cards. I still love doing them.

The words are a die I got. I am not sure who made it.

Father's Day Cup

I hope putting a video here works.  I made this for my dad for Father's Day. I had painted it and then baked the cup in the oven to set the paint. I had to be careful what cup and paint I used. I am hoping it will last for a while.

Watercolor Poppies

I am taking a watercolor class from Let's Make Art.  I will not be posting the painting I have done so far in order but I thought it would be good to document the work here.

The first picture is an in progress painting.  I was shocked how easy the poppies are to do.  Just paint to opposite petals with a small white space between. Let that dry. Then go back with a brush with just water and add the other petals.

This next photo was the final painting.

I had so much paint on the pallet I did these too.  I will use them on a birthday card for work.

Let's Make Art also does Let's Make Art Matter- They send a watercolor postcard with their monthly kit. It is addressed and stamped to be sent to someone who could use some support.  This was my version of the card she made.

Backing Birthday

I  did this tonight with a Silhouette cut file.  Going to give it to a girl at work.  The happy birthday stamp is from Stampin Up.  She loves baking so I hope it will make her smile

Bracelets for Woman at church

A few of these were pre-made but then I made more for all the women in my church for Mother's Day

Playing with Card Making

I played making cards a couple weeks ago.

The one above was made with an Altenew die.
The background is the new Stampin Up basket weave embossing folder.

These cards below were done designed with the Paper Pumpkin kit. I didn't totally follow the design.

The card below included flowers I stamped using Altenew's Vintage Roses stamp and dies.  The rest of it was from the Paper Pumpkin kit.

The background on the card below was done stamping the flower over and over on the background. Most of the parts were from the Paper Pumpkin kit.

This is the card I did for my grandson's birthday. He likes dogs and I thought this one was shaped like his dog Bebe.

It was all cut out with my Silhouette.

Rising to Celebrate

I pieced and colored this Unity stamped image. The balloons were punched out with a Stampin Up punch.  The word was die cut.

The background paper was paper that was real denim fabric.

Irises

I have some lovely irises this year. It is super nice to see in my tiny yard.

I brought them from Idaho when I moved to Michigan.
