Catching up

 HI

I know I have very few followers here but I am going to play catch up over the next couple weeks. I have been accepted into ArtPrize 2022 and it is time for me to catch up all my social media channels. :)

I have moved from card making to mostly doing art - painting - but I am still of a bit of an octopus when it comes to arts and crafts.  I do many different things and love to learn something new.

For the last couple days, this elephant has had my attention. I have draw and undrawn him. Hoping to paint him later today.

Bunny Happy Easter

These are three of the 4 cards I offered at a recent card class.

This top card is from a Silhouette cut file.

The stamps here are from a set of Unity stamps.

This last card is super simple but super cute too. Cut with my Silhouette.

Who's Birthday

Yes, I still do cards.....

THis cute little card is made with stamps from Unity Stamps. He was embossed in black and colored with markers. I taught a recent card class and this was one of the cards the class did.

Scrappy Dog

More art journaling fun. How about a cute messy little dog drawing.  He should be in a children's book.

Rainbow of mushroom

Having some fun painting mushrooms in my sketchbook.

I loved how this one turned out.

To me, mushrooms are like rainbows. No two are alike and they are only there for a short time. They live in the now.

Today is my son's birthday and I used some of the gelli print paper as a background. I have used this stamp many times as it is a favorite of mine.  The stamp is called Forrest guy and it is by Unity Stamps.

Swatch Doodles

Taking a free sketchbook class (Sketchbook Revival)  In this lesson, you practiced mixing colors and doodled on them. I started with Daniel Smith's Moonglow and did the bottom activity. Then I messed with my palette, using up leftover paints and swatched out the ovals. I turned those into faces.

Sunflowers for Ukraine

Recently, I was a t a thrift store and found this box for $3.  It seemed weird to have a set of oil paints for kids. On closer examination, I saw the detailed sunflower inage at the bottom of the box. I also saw that they showed the paint cleaning with water so I didn't think it was oils, so I took it home.

Inside was a cloth canvas and paints for a very detailed paint by number. Certainly poor adverting as I don't think this is right for a child.

And so I got an inexpensive canvas and stapled this canvas on the frame - and off we go.

And the finished piece.  It was acrylics, not oils. I had to mix my own paints at times because some of the paints were dried out.  I was very happy with the results.

More Gelli Plate Fun

Applying the layers of acrylic paint is easy, (most of the time), and I am loving the results. There is a lot of uncertainty in what will and won't turn out but that's part of the fun, I think.

Gelli Plate fun

I got a gelli plate and have been having lots of fun printing with it.

I love using this stencil with it
