Solar dying

I got a kit to do solar dying from my favorite store, Craft Outlet

You put the dye on fabric under artificial light. Then you place things on it to shade the fabric. Then you put it in the sun and the dye is activated.  It was crazy to watch it change in front of our eyes.
I did it with my grandchildren. It was a fun

Patriotic Postcard

As part of Let's Make Art, we paint and send postcards each month to people who need encouragement.  This card was sent a couple who lost their son in the military.

Sympathy Card

Here is a lovely quick sympathy card I did. The stamps were from Stampin Up.

I have been drawing at work when I have long meetings.  I just love the girl on top.  She is inspired by Danielle Donaldson.

Birthday Cards

I needed to make some cards for some of my employees.

The one above is done with words cur out on my silhouette.  The stamps are a set of Tim Holtz stamps that I got for a bargain from Craft Outlet.

The little girls on this card were die cut.

Colorful Owl

I painted this the other day. I hate to just wash the extra paints in the paint tray away and this was the result.  I have also been thinking about writing and illustrating a children's book and I have been practicing more illustrative looking images.

E is for Elegant

This was a card I did for a card swap.  The theme was a card that had something to do with the letter e.

I colored it with watercolors.

I picked up a package of these planner dividers at Craft Outlet for a bargain.

Originally , I thought it was going to be a good place to practice skin tones or to turn over and just use the backs of the pages. Now I may use them on cards.

Painting Tutorials

I am still doing Let's Mark Art tutorials.  Here are some of the painting I have done.

Sunflower Card

I needed a quick card for a woman at work who's son was in a serious motorcycle accident.

I watercolored the flower and honestly surprised myself. I was able to paint it quickly and loosely.  It made me feel like I am getting better at watercolor.

The word "Hello" was die cut.

Camper Van

This was a bonus project with Let's Make Art.

I used liquid watercolors and Canson watercolor paper.

Emotion Cards

These are emotion cards I made as part of the Creativity and Wellness Summit.   Originally I thought I would burn some of them up when I was done but I decided I could own my emotions and none of them are bad.  I am dealing with my mom ill with cancer.

This is the back of the cards

I thought I was done. Then I went back and added some circles.

Strong Women

I painted this for the Creativity and Wellness Summit.  It is in one of my journals. I used a lot of metallics however the camera doesn't show it. Just trying to be strong :)

Have a creative day

My Mom

My mom has been diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer. She came from from going to Africa with me and had a cough that wouldn't stop.  They found lung cancer and she has gone through trying two types of chemo.  The cancer has spread and we are trying one last kind of chemo. They say she has 3 to 6 months to live.  I am going to miss her.  I have been going a Creativity and Wellness Summit and did this piece.  The background is collage. The hands are done in acrylic.

A Jar of Tulips

I don't often do the same project twice. There are so many things to paint, I don't want to do the same thing when I can do something new.  In this case, I painted this project by Let's Make Art. It is shown that the bottom of the page.  I decided I had to do it again with a Ball canning jar.  I loved how the jar came out and was afraid I was going to wreak it with the flowers so I have some in progress pictures.

This is where I was painting.  I am at my parents house.  I have spent a lot of time there this year helping my mother who is ill. This was in April but I am catching up posting some pictures.

Really loved how the jar came out.

And this is the finished project . I left it in my mom's bedroom for many months so she would always have flowers. :)

This was the first one I did.  I love the colors in some of the tulips.

And here is the first and second one together.  I should do paint projects over again more often because there is a lot of improvement between these and they were done within a day of each other.

Hope you have a creative day!

Sidewalk drawing

I did a online series of classes for Sketchbook Revival. One of the projects was to take a picture of some cracked sidewalk and find pictures in it.
This is part of my driveway. Plenty of cracks.

I did several of these but this was my favorite.  This is done on a print of the cracks, not actually on the driveway.

Watercolor Doodles

Isn't this a fun way to use up extra paint on your pallet!

I painted the bird nest below as a Let's Make Art project.  Then there was paint on my pallet and I had to play.  I did these last April.
