March Swaps

Here are some of my March Swap cards for JustCards

This was a color swap. You asked someone a color and then had to base your card on the color. I asked my husband and he said forest green.  The stamp is a Unity stamp. I am in the stamp of the week club.  I used Tim Holtz core paper for the background and sanded it after I embossed it.

This is the sketch swap. Meg from JustCards (yahoo group) designs them.  I love to alter the designs and do my own thing but I stayed pretty close to the original this time.  Pretty paper, a Stampin Up stamp, and a flower. Very simple.

This is my Easter card. I love this bunny stamp and have used it before. I borrowed it from a friend a couple years ago and stamped a handful of images. Luckily I had one left for this card.

Here comes a big catch up!

I am way behind on posting here and plan to do some major catching up. Since not may come by to visit, it shouldn't be too annoying.

This was a Green and purple swap card for JustCards. The punch is from Stampin Up.

In the Wilds of Africa

Here is a recent swap card I did.  It was lots of fun. It was for a card swap on JustCards.

I colored the elephant and background with Copics. I got the elephant at a garage sale a couple years ago and don't know who makes it. He was unmounted rubber with no markings. I think he is beautiful

The spotted fabric is from a wallpaper sample book I got years ago.  There is small samples in the book and I used the whole piece of this fabric.

T is for Time out

My yahoo group, JustCards, continues to have alphabet swaps each month.  Here is my T card. T is for Time out. I love this little girl and I could certainly use a time out.

I colored her with Copics.  The stamp is from Stamping Bella called "Anna and Her Time Out Chair"

Feb sketch card

Meg Farris designs the sketches for the month Swaps at JustCards.  Here is the Sketch she did in Feburay and my interpretation.

And my interpretation-

Do you think I tool it too far?  The clock die is from Tim Holtz. The saying is from a large box of tiny sayings I have.

2011 No Stamp Card

We had a swap on JustCards for a card that was done without stamps. This was my creation. I used the Summer in Paris cartridge for the Cricut for the Eiffel tower. The word Thanks is from the George cartridge. The postage stamps are stickers.

E is for Elephant and Explore

The alphabet swaps continue at JustCards . This is my E card. It is very different than my usual stuff. I was inspired by a pad of paper I had.

W is for Watermelon

Here is the next alphabet card for the JustCards alphabet swap.  It makes me think of summer. Nothing really new on techniques for me here. I colored it with colored pencils and used odorless mineral spirits to blend.  It was a simple card but I was happy with the results. It went all the way to Scotland for the swap. It is my first swap card to Scotland!

House of Mouse Birthday card

There was a swap on JustCards that you sent another person the materials to make at least 2 cards. I got my stuff from Karen in Canada and this is the card I made. I also used the embossed paper from another swap. I colored the image primarily with Copic markers.  It was fun to make and came together pretty quickly.

Ribbon Card

I had a new swap for JustCards. It was a ribbon card and since my partner received her card, I can show it to all of you.  The background was given to me in an embossed paper swap. I got the butterfly and flower ribbon at Michaels. The girl is a stamp from I Brake for Stamps. I colored her with a bit of colored pencil. I used Copic marker E00 for the skin. I use that almost always.

U is for Umbrella

This is my U card for the letter swap at JustCards. I loved the umbrella stamp when I first saw it. I got it on clearance for a dollar. It was even wood mounted. It is by Great Impressions. I colored it adn the sandles with markers. The sandals are done with a clear stamp that was a dollar also. I have had the ribbon for several years and know there would come the perfect moment to use a piece.  The yellow piece of background paper is pearlescent a beautiful all my itself.

Tone on Tone Angel

This month on JustCards, one of the swaps we did was using the tone on tone technique. In this technique, you create a image using the same color embossing powder as paper when you stamp the image. The only hard part, I found with the technique, was that the stamp wanted to slide on the slick metalic paper. Here I used silver on silver to create the angel. It is hard to photograph but beautiful in person. The background was done with a cuttlebug folder.  The angel and words are from A Stampin Up set called " On Angel Wings".

Weekly Color Game

On JustCards, we are playing a color game from now until Christmas. If you are not a member of JustCards, please come and join us.  The way the game works is that I have picked over a hundred colors off of a wikipedia site.  Each Sunday, I will post 5 colors drawn at random on JustCards. THe game is to make a card using at least three of the 5 colors.  I will have different judges each week pick one. That card will be put on the group homepage for the week and I will send them a little prize like unmounted stamps, diecuts or images

This week, the colors chosen were sienna, wheat, plum, cerise, and periwinkle. I chose seinna, wheat and plum. This is my card.  The stamps are from an old Stampin Up set.
